Here it is after Easter in April in Texas and we’re having a cold front. I’d say it’s a cold front! We went from eighty degrees or above yesterday to a wind chill of thirty-three this morning although it feels like the teens.
Don’t get me wrong I love the Texas weather but when spring has sprung I think we ought to get on with it and get the warmth in tow. Obviously the little hummingbird who has been drinking at my feeder thinks so as well.
We’ve got rainy, cold, dreary weather right now with a hint of thunder and all the things that go on with it but I’m in a warm home while he’s outside in the rain. Well, that’s not completely so. He’s taken to sitting on my back porch (southern word) patio chair as you can see in the picture which was taken from inside my house on my phone. It’s a little cloudy like the weather but you get the picture.
He’s fluffed up trying to keep warm and alternates between the chair seat to the arm to the back so that he’s got a better view. Then he flies into the rain to get a drink, comes back, and settles down once again to survey his own special paradise away from the drizzling water. I’ve tried to keep away from the windows as much as possible so as not to bother the poor little fellow although I’d like to hand him a towel.
Gabrielle, my puppy-dog, isn’t even allowed outside that much right now. So the squirrels have free range too. They just don’t know it’s because I want the hummingbird to have his quiet time.
He and I might both have the same prayer for warmth from the sun.
P. S. If only I knew that tiny fellow’s birthdate, I could get his horoscope at www.dailyhoroscopes.com.
