My dog, Gabrielle, has been displeased with a new ghost in the house.

My dog, Gabrielle, has been displeased with a new ghost in the house. By that I mean she tries to stay completely out of his way, hugging walls whenever possible and actually bypassing rooms completely where she sees him.

There is no amount of coaxing that can compel this little white dog to come by or through a ghostly occupied room or doorway.

It started out this way since the man who sang to me the other night died. I finally had to tell him to leave my dog alone because she visibly shakes when I pick her up to usher her out of the offending space.

Now she has some quirks. It’s as if he left such an impression that she no longer wants to follow his spirit trail. My wood floors don’t help because when she hurries her little feet stay in one place without gaining traction as she works valiantly to escape. We’ve laughed at her antics but when I felt her shaking I figured that was enough.

Now I’m trying to retrain my little girl to all the rooms in the house not just my bedroom and the sofa since they’re the only places she feels safe.

Ghosts, like men, are great to have and hard to live without but there are times.
